Home Projects To Pass the Time During Winter

We’ve been stuck at home for a long time now, and with winter upon us, that probably won’t be changing anytime soon. Our homes are our sanctuaries from the cold, but that doesn’t mean you have to sit and do nothing with them all throughout the winter. With outdoor renovations off the table, we look indoors for new projects to keep us busy. Try some of these home projects to pass the time during winter that will make your home look brand-new.

Clean Your Garage

The garage is a strange place in our homes. Its primary function is to house our cars, but it often doubles as a storage area for whatever we can’t find a place for. Since you’ll be staying in a lot, cleaning the garage is the perfect project to take on this winter. Keep the garage door closed as much as possible to keep the heat in, and go to work.

Paint Interior Walls

You’re going to be spending a lot of time looking at the walls in your house, so you might as well enjoy the view. Create an accent wall to make a space pop or redo an entire room for a fresh new look. Painting a whole room takes more time than you think, but at least you’ll be inside where it’s warm. Be careful that cabin fever doesn’t leave you picking a strange color, though.

Seal Openings Around Doors and Windows

If you want to save a little money on your heating bill while keeping your home nice and cozy, check around your windows and doors for any cracks in the sealant. Over time these cracks form and allow air from outside to creep its way in, making your heating unit work harder than it should to keep the place warm. A little bit of plaster or caulking is really all you need to make a big difference.

Rework Your Attic or Basement

Attics and basements are great if you’re utilizing them to their fullest potential. Maybe yours are just storage areas for now, but just think of how much space is in them. With a little work, you could turn your basement into a game room or your attic into a spare bedroom. If you need a project to pass the time during winter, expanding your home’s livable space seems like a good use of time.
