For more than 20 years, Tiptonville Main Street has been working to preserve and promote historic downtown Tiptonville. All of this has been accomplished by our generous supporters in Lake County and those from outside our county. A downtown project is nearing the final stages after replacing the awning and repairing one patio wall. There will also be some work done to the Strand Theatre.
All of this was done with the help of a façade grant from the Economic Department.
There are other projects in the planning stages that we hope will come to fruition in the near future. Stay tuned, this could get exciting. Beginning the week of September 19, Main Street members and volunteers will begin to ‘dress up’ downtown and it’s gateways in all of falls splendor. If you would like to volunteer to help, you can call (731) 253-9922 or (731) 253-8926.
There will be a fall concert on Friday, September 30th at the Main Street Theatre. “Blue Eyed Soul” will be back performing a tribute to the “Motown Sound”. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $10.00. Many have been entertained by this group and they have a following of people that enjoy their performances. Come on out and enjoy a place to go without driving several miles and visit with your neighbors. In October we will have our annual “Good Witches Lunchen” on Friday, October 28 at The Main Street Centre to kick off our Halloween events. There will be more information to follow. Watch for this in your local Lake County Banner and on Facebook. If anyone would like more information on the Main Street organization and wish to become involved, you may contact the Main Street Director, Marcie Perkins Mills at the Reelfoot Chamber of Commerce or any Main Street member and volunteer. Remember there is no place like home, so let’s make home the best place it can be. There is no age limit for volunteering. We need the young and all the in-between. Finally to all of our supporters, those who are still supporting our dream and those who have gone on, we so appreciate you – Thank you!!
