Tiptonville board terminates police officer for misconduct

Mayor and Aldermen met in regular session on Aug. 9 and unanimously approved a motion to terminate police officer Joel Foster’s employment with the Tiptonville Police Dept. Foster held the rank of patrol officer and has on the force since 2016. The reason for the dismissal was not discussed but
involves alleged misconduct.
The case has been turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for further investigation.
In other business the board approved the passage of the Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project. The bid for the project was awarded to Reagor Construction, Inc. of Newbern in the amount of $156,405.
The funds will be taken out of the 2019 Community Development Block Grant project scope.
Tiptonville’s portion of the project will come out of water department funds.
According to the ordinance Tiiptonville’s forthcoming TDEC American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds will be
earmarked to reimburse Tiptonville for the cost of the contract.
The board also approved an amendment to the Tiptonville Zoning Map to rezone property on State Route 78 (City of Tiptonville, Lindamood Planting Company, Yates and Sons and Jimmy Simmons properties from M-1 (industrial) to B-1 (general business).
