Lego Club is scheduled to meet Friday, September 2nd at 4:00 pm. Story-Time & Craft will be on Monday, September 26th at 4:30 pm. We will read a Fall themed story. With enough participation this program will continue on every fourth Monday of each month.
The free book shelf is FULL of both adult and children’s book. Please feel free to come and take as many as you like. **The library does NOT currently have extra boxes or bags to provide to patrons who carry out several items. We apologize for this, but you may bring your own to load up.
Please be aware that the circle driveway next to the library is NOT part of our property. This is a private drive, and the owners have asked that library patrons refrain from parking there as is blocks their access to the garage. The library is NOT responsible for any fines or issues that may arise if this request is ignored. There are signs clearly stating that there is no parking. Library patrons are welcome to park on the street, or at the Methodist Church (as long as there are no services taking place). After hours, patrons my also use the library’s own drive way.
The library’s WiFi Garden is open 24/7. This is located on the south side of the building where the 2nd entrance used to be. Patrons are welcome to use this area to their convenience. However, we must insist that patrons use the garbage can at the end of the driveway to dispose of any trash.
The Discovery Park of America (DPA) and the Obion River Regional Library System are once again teaming up for the annual Lego Competition. Each month (August – November) will have a theme, as always. Builders may submit their creations to the library on their own, or during monthly Lego Club. Submissions will be separated into categories, and one winner from each category will be selected to take to DPA. Those winners will be on display along with others from different libraries in the Obion River Regional system. DPA will select a favorite from each category, and if your creation is selected, you will receive a free pass to the park. At the end of the four month cycle, DPA will select an overall winner in each category from the pool of favorites. The theme for September is “Universe of Possibilities”. If you would like to make your creation at home with your own legos, you are welcomed to do so. You’ll need to submit your creation to the library by September 9th.
What’s the librarian reading? Things We Do in the Dark by Jennifer Hillier I got this for a book club, started, and never finished it. I’m around halfway through it and so far, I’m intrigued. The main character is married to a famous stand-up comedian who mysteriously dies and she is accused of murdering him. She’s young and pretty, he’s old and rich so it seems pretty straight forward. Of course, it isn’t. This girl is hiding some big boy secrets. I think I might have her figured out, so as I finish I will heavily judge this book on whether or not I’m right.
