Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, Inc. longtime establishment and family-owned business in the twin cities of Fulton, Kentucky and South Fulton, Tennessee took ownership of the Strong Funeral Home in Hickman on February 9, 2023. Strong Funeral Home is under the operation of the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel and available to serve families at this time.
“We are excited to serve the closely connected community of Hickman and preserve the historical landmark so that family traditions can continue”, states Garrett Hutchins. “We know how important this is to those in the community.”
Austin Major, licensed funeral director and embalmer, will remain on staff. Austin is a graduate of Mid-America College of Funeral Service.
“Austin is a very courteous, dedicated young man in his chosen profession and has been associated with Strong Funeral Home since 2014”, says Kent Hutchins.
Austin served his apprenticeship at Strong Funeral Home under the late Jim Vickers, under the ownership of his grandmother, Linda Strong. The time has come for Linda to embark on a new journey in life and enjoy retirement. Joining Austin will be the staff of Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, combining over 100 years of service and experience.
This familiar location will continue to honor all existing, pre-existing contracts funded by cash monies or insurance products made by Strong Funeral Home.
“It is our goal to provide the best possible service at prices that will be affordable to all families we serve”, says Hutchins.  “We encourage you to contact us regarding any questions or concerns you may have regarding these important matters and welcome an opportunity to discuss the many burial and cremation services we offer”.
There will be a transition process as updates are made to the interior and exterior of the facility, while maintaining the historical basis of the building. Upgrades to funeral vehicles will also be made. The funeral home will remain open during the remodel.
“With the many years of Hornbeak traditions of families serving families, we will strive to serve Hickman and the surrounding areas as family”, states Mike Lynch.
The funeral home staff ask for your support and patience as we move forward. If you have any questions, please call the funeral home at 270-236-2820.
