Sign-Up month! To celebrate, the Tiptonville Public Library will raffle off two prize baskets, one for children and one for adults. There are three ways to enter these drawings:

  1. Sign-up for a new Library Card
  2. Renew an old card
  3. Return books you’ve checked out*

The winners will be drawn on September 29th via Facebook.
*You will only receive a submission to the drawing for books that you return in-person to the front desk. Check-outs and books returned to the drop box will not gain entries.
Banned Book Week is September 18th-24th. Come in and celebrate your freedom to read, by picking out a Banned Book.
Please be aware that no books are currently banned from this library. Banned Book Week is a means to highlight titles that have been banned/challenged in schools, public libraries, and academic libraries across the country. To that end, the library will have daily activities such as scavenger hunts, online story times, and take-home crafts that will be available on a come-and-go basis as well as several displays throughout the building showcasing challenged books. Information on the impact of Banned Books and how patrons can appropriately challenge books in this library will also be readily available.
Story-time and Craft is scheduled for Monday, September 26th at 4:30pm. This program will be Fall themed.
The Tiptonville Library along with all others in the Obion River Regional system have partnered with the Discovery Park of America to provide patrons and their families with the opportunity to fully experience
the park for free.
We currently have kits that include 2-Day VIP passes to the park (free admission, discount at gift shop & café, plus a VIP badge) for each member of your family, maps of park, things to do in Obion County, and a few goodies and snacks. You MUST apply for a kit. A link to the application is on the library’s Facebook page along with a QR code that is also at the front desk and posted on the front door.
All you have to do to get a kit is apply and agree to return it along with a worksheet from DPA (included in the kit) highlighting your family’s experience.
These passes expire December 31st, so get them while they are available.
What’s the librarian reading?
Demigods Academy (Book 1) by Elisa S Amore & Kiera Legend
So this is basically Zodiac Academy but with Greek gods instead of Fae.
The main character kind of sneaks into this school that only accepts a hand full of “chosen” each year to attend and train to join the army of the gods. Think Percy Jackson…but spicy. There are 12 books in this series and I am only on the first, but it seems promising.
