William Joe Perkins 1940-2022

Mr. William Joe Perkins, 82, of Springfield, TN, passed away Friday, November 25, 2022 at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 28, 2022 in the chapel of Young Funeral Home in Linden, TN, with Ed Boggess and Flint Redwine officiating. Interment followed services in the Qualls Cemetery, Linden, TN.
Mr. Perkins was born in Tiptonville to the late Jesse Franklin Perkins and Golden Carrington Perkins. He was a retired machine adjuster for St. Regis Envelope Company and a member of the Adairville Church of Christ in Adairville, KY. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a son, William Randell Perkins, his brothers Howard Richard Perkins, Carl Edward Perkins, Jessie “Dump” Perkins, Jerry Wayne Perkins, and Robert Mames Perkins, his sisters Wanda Sue Hayes, Ruth Ann Taylor, Frances Russie Jones, and Linda Mae Williams.
Joe worked from an early age, picking cotton along with his brothers and sisters as a young boy. He left the cotton fields of West Tennessee for Chicago in 1960 after marrying the love of his life. Together, he and Shirley returned to the Nashville TN area to begin a service station on Charlotte Pike at White Bridge Road. Eventually, Joe began working as a Machine Adjuster for St. Regis Envelope Company in Nashville, working nearly the rest of his career in that role for various companies.
Joe was gifted mechanically, and was called upon to help others by preforming maintenance on their vehicles or repairing William Joe Perkins 1940-2022 household appliances. He assisted many over the years and lended those talents in service to the Church whenever possible, most recently as a member of the Adairville Church of Christ in Adairville, KY. He continued to consider the Church at River Road (Nashville, TN), Winchester (Winchester, TN), and MLK(Aecadia, FL) family.
Survivors include his loving wife od 62 years, Shirley Hinson Perkins, daughters Shavon Jane (Craig Bailey) Martin of Ashland City and Holly Jo (David) Ezell of Cowan, his beloved grandchildren Mary Kaitlyn (Austin Payne) Martin of Pegram, Lorey Keegan (Collin Ward) Warrick and William Cole Warrick, both of Clarksville, as well as his darling great-grand daughter Harlyn Kate Payne. He was also blessed with bonus grandchildren Anna Loye (Cory) Miller of Kingsburg, California and Laura Wright Ezell of Cowan, along with bonus great-grands Lyla Grace Miller and Shepard Scott Miller. Siblings Patricia Lamb of Ridgely, Ronnie Dale Perkins of Mayfield, KY, Cindy Diane Fisher and Connie Joe Perkins both of Dyersburg and a host of other loving family members and friends. Joe was loved by many because of his gentle spirit and giving nature. He had an enormous circle of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
